We tried the bathtub again today. Addie was tentative at first, but then seemed to be having a great time...until she tried to lick the soapy water - that was the end of bathtime!

My One Minute
"You work hard, try to provide for the family, and then, for one minute, everything's good. Everyone's well. Everyone's happy. In that one minute, you have peace."
Name that movie!
You know those times in life that you wish you could freeze and always remember because they're so great you never want to forget them? I think I can count mine on one hand...one was last night!
Wil saw an ad for the Electric Light Parade in downtown Phoenix and thought it would be a fun Saturday night activity. So we bundled ourselves up, packed a few chairs and blankets and headed downtown.
It was a cold night for Phoenix, so we dressed Addie extra warm - the bottom half of her had tights, jeans, sweatpants and socks and the top half of her was covered by a long sleeve onesie, sweatshirt and jacket (and socks on her hands because we didn't have any mittens).
We got to the parade a little more than an hour early so we could get good seats and spread out our chairs (we saved spots for Wil's family) right in the front row at 7th Street and Camelback. Addie and I hung out in the chairs while Wil went to move the car closer (we got a little impatient parking and ended up too far away the first time).
Addie and I waiting for the parade...it's a bit dark, but I LOVE the smile on her face, she was having SO much fun!
It started to sprinkle while Wil was moving the car, so I covered Addie up with his jacket and waited for him to come back. Addie likes being outside and was in a particularly good mood last night, so she was super happy when the rain stopped and she could jump up and down and play in my lap. I had the hood on my jacket up because it was COLD - which blocked my peripheral vision so I could only see her in front of me. We giggled and played and laughed some more while we waited for Wil's family to arrive and the parade to start. That was my minute - everyone was happy and healthy, I wasn't worried about anything and I was having a BLAST with my baby girl. It was perfect!
Still waiting for the parade to start - you can see us a lot better in this one. Unfortunately, this is where the camera battery died, so we didn't get any pictures of the floats or Wil's family after they joined us.
The parade started and we had lots of fun watching it until rain and tiny ice chunks started falling pouring down from the sky. Wil didn't see the snow...but I did and it was definitely snowing in Phoenix!
I covered Addie's head with the blanket so she wouldn't get wet and she promptly fell right to sleep. I sat, laughing and holding her while I watched everyone around me scurry to fold up chairs, gather blankets and hot chocolate mugs, and run for their cars.
Wil cleaned up our things while I kept Addie dry and then we made a mad dash for the car - laughing and giggling the entire way! Wil and I were SOAKED. Every part of our whole selves was wet...but Addie slept the entire way to the car and every last inch of her was perfectly dry and warm when we got there.
It was the perfect evening! I loved everything about it! The time to giggle with Addie, Junior shouting "MIRA!" or "TROCA!" each time a new float came by because he was so excited and thought the lights were so cool, the snow, the mad dash to the car and the soaking wet ride home...I cannot imagine a better way to have spent my Saturday!

Oxygen
My grandma, otherwise known as Addie's Great Grandma, is no ordinary grandma! You see, not many grandma's come with built-in toys.
Sure, many have glasses, but those are pretty common and most of the time babies can't really play with them and bang them around too much because they might scratch them. Mere glasses are not enough for Addie's Great Grandma. No, she has one of the coolest built-in baby toys ever...oxygen!
Addie has SO much fun playing with my Grandma's oxygen hose...seriously, she LOVES it! So my Grandma was kind enough to take one of her tubes and cut it into several little pieces for Addie's enjoyment at home, in her car seat, at the grocery store, at church and pretty much anywhere her heart desires.
Thank you, Grandma, for coming with built-in toys and for sharing them with my baby girl! She LOVES her oxygen tube!
Roy
"No kid's going to put a tooth under a pillow for a man named Roy!"
Name that movie!
Addie got her first tooth at the beginning of November...Wednesday, Nov. 2, to be exact! It wasn't an awful experience, and she didn't fuss much about it. But, her eyes were sad...which made us sad for her!
Excuse the blurriness - I was practicing my new photography skills, which apparently are not amazing...yet! In my defense, you can see her tooth, which is no small feat...considering how much she moves and how she refuses to open her mouth wide enough to show off her pearly white.
Mammarazzi
I got a new book called Mammarazzi about a week ago. It's a mom's guide to photographing your kids. I LOVE it! I'm about half way through and have had fun practicing the last couple nights.
If only this first one wasn't blurry...that's why I'm practicing, though, right? To figure out how to not make it blurry!
See Spot
Remember the time Addie puked all over the dog? No?
It was last week. I was sitting on a stool, holding Addie. Poor Elvis was sleeping curled up in his too small bed, when all of a sudden, Addie leaned over and barfed (I believe the proper term is spit up, but this was A LOT of spit up!) all over the dog.
He helped out by cleaning what he could off of the floor. Unfortunately, he couldn't reach this exact spot on his back, so I helped him...after I took a picture of course!

Random
A few random musings about our life right now...
- We got Wil's car back today...it's definitely been broken for more than two months! I'm not sure we even remember how to have two cars. I can grocery shop during the middle of the day?? WHAT? Here's to hoping it's really fixed this time so we can sell it!
- Addie is an expert at scooting herself around the house. So far she's unscrewed the doorstop in our living room twice, gotten stuck under and figured out how to unstick herself from under the coffee table, knocked over the dog's water bowl in the kitchen and learned how to help me keep the house cleaner by finding and showing me EVERY piece of dirt I could have possibly missed.
- I went to Walmart Wednesday to get some groceries. I grabbed a loaf of bread off the sale rack. It was marked $1.04. I told the cashier it was on the 50 percent off rack. She had to get out her CALCULATOR to figure out how much half of $1.04 is...seriously...and it still took her way longer than it should have!!!
- Only one person signed up for my cake decorating classes at JoAnn's this month, so they were canceled. Bummer!
- Addie helps me turn off the light in her room every time we leave. I stand by the switch and she holds out her finger to turn it off - SO CUTE!
- I'm doing freelance PR work for an old boss - it's great. I am determined me quitting my job will be the best thing that has ever happened to us!
- I accidentally left my coupon binder in the cart at Walmart. I wanted to cry! It never got turned in...so I started a new coupon binder this week. Thinking about it too much still makes me want to cry!
- One of our favorite shows is called the Big Bang Theory. It's about these super nerdy, genius physicist guys trying to relate to the rest of the world. This week the episode was about the weirdest, nerdiest character of them all being scared of birds. For the record, it makes me feel SUPER LAME that they sat in a room trying to decide what was the most unlikely, strangest thing the crazy guy could be scared of and decided it had to be birds! Birds ARE FREAKY! You don't have to be crazy to think that! (I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested!)
