Addie has been loving this house lately...and her toy vacuum, she takes her toy vacuum everywhere!
Ding, Dong. Who is it? It's you!
I LOVE these two pictures of Addie...I just wish they weren't blurry! That's what happens when I try to do anything with my camera besides auto!

What does a chick say?
Lynda moved down to the dorms at the University of Arizona a few weeks ago. My aunt and uncle were suffering from partially empty nest syndrome, so they decided to fill their nest with hens so they can get fresh eggs.
They have six cute little chicks that we went to go visit Monday night.
I was very brave and knelt on a tall chair while they let the chicks roam free so Addie could meet them. It should be noted that every time Addie looked at me, I put on my very best calm, happy face. When she wasn't looking at me, I would jump every time my foot touched the back of my other leg thinking a chick and found its way onto my stool!
At first, Addie thought the chicks were a bit freaky...

But, she warmed up to them by the time we were done.
It's a good thing Daddy is brave, because there is no way, you would have seen me down on the floor holding the chicks!
Baptisms
Our nieces Adaly and Xujey were baptized on the same day in August. We enjoyed being there for their special day!
The baptism girls
(whoever let me leave the house looking like this should be shot!)
The cake!
Mommy, Mommy, Mommy
Addie recently learned how to say Mommy. I LOVE it! :-)
Heard all day long at my house:
Addie - "Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy."
Me - "What Addie?
Addie - "Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy."
Me - "Addie, what sweetheart?"
Addie - "Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy."
Me - "Addie, what?"
Addie - "Mommy, mommy, mommy."
She knows how to say dog (it comes out more like dah), Dada, uh oh, and oh no. None of which really make sense after "Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy," so she just keeps saying mommy and hoping I'll figure out what she wants!

One of These Things is Not Like the Other
The Children's Museum had this really cool felt wall with all sorts of Velcro pieces to attach to it. They even had assorted stuffed animal parts that you could Velcro to the wall to make a new animal. There were faces, feet, horns, legs, ears etc.
My question to you - what exactly is the following stuffed animal body part supposed to be?

Culture for Toddlers
Our local library participates in the Culture Pass program, which lets you check out free tickets to area attractions. The cool passes, like the Phoenix Zoo, Children's Museum and Science Center, go fast. You have to get there a few minutes before they open to line up for the good passes. I always feel just a bit bad for the Deer Valley Rock Art Museum and the Cave Creek Historical Museum because you can pick up those passes anytime you want...they are ALWAYS there (because really, who wants to go to the Rock Art museum?)! Sad!
Wil had Saturday off work and we decided it would be fun to take Addie to the Children's Museum. Addie and I got to the library ten minutes before they opened Tuesday to secure our two free passes. I've never been to the Children's museum and was ridiculously excited to go! I worried a bit that Addie might still be a little too young and that she would be too timid to play with the toys...HA! It was absolutely perfect for her! She LOVED every minute!
They had the coolest climbing tree in the middle of the museum. Addie likes climbing stairs, so she thought it was excessively neat! I don't think we could have gotten her to stop smiling if we tried!
Addie and Daddy in the boat.
Addie and Daddy climbing down stairs!
Playing in the fort room where kids could make their own forts (or in Addie's case, drag around buckets and crates).
Mommy and Addie having fun!
I cannot even tell you how much Addie LOVED these flowers! She would pick them and twirl them around! We could barely pull her away to move on to the next part of the museum!
Playing in the Noodle Forest...
Banging the drums with her feet!
My normally shy, timid child underwent a major transformation while at the Children's Museum!
Ordinarily, she doesn't go more than a few steps away from us while out in public. Here however, she RAN down the halls away from us to get to the next cool toy. Every time I tried to hold her hand, she would sit down and twist and twist to try to release herself from my grasp so she could get up and run away again!
She loved this cucumber car, and was convinced it was HER car! Another little girl who looked about one came toddling over to the side and Addie stuck out her arm and PUSHED her away from the car! Addie's a bully! What happened to the sweet, gentle, loving baby girl?!?

Cloud Dough
A mom at story time mentioned how much her daughter loved playing with cloud dough.
Shortly after, I Googled it and added it to the list of activities I wanted to do with Addie. To say Addie loved this activity is an understatement! It kept her attention for 40 minutes...FORTY...in a row! Plus, she needed a bath afterward which turned this into about a 90 minute activity and entertained us for a large chunk of the afternoon.
Cloud dough is made by mixing 8 cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil (we did 4 cups of flour and 1/2 cup baby oil because there were only two of us). That's it...no super complicated recipe or cooking or anything.
The mixture kid of feels like sand that's just barely wet enough to stick together if you put it in a big clump, but that's still dry enough it falls apart if you poke at it.
Our activity started like this...cloud dough and lots of kitchen items to help mold it.
Addie decided the table seemed a bit too clean for this activity, so she used the wooden spoon to put cloud dough in the circle cookie cutter.
Hmmm...getting messier.
And messier...
Did I mention how much she loved this activity? She was smiling most of the time she was playing!
In the last couple weeks, Addie has started splashing up a storm in the bathtub - just look at those waves in the water. Wil and I are always soaked by the time the bath is done, as are the window sill and the floor, and sometimes, even the clothes in the hamper nearby!

Holy cow! That's one messy little girl! She is definitely going to need a bath, and that chair is definitely going to need to be washed!
