Alright, so I haven't been the best about posting lately. I'm still not in the mood to write a ton, but I thought you might enjoy this Shoedini commercial.
Wil and I laughed for a good 15-30 minutes last night after this commercial came on.
Enjoy!

No Parents!
Last night, we invited all of Wil's nieces over for a slumber party. It was great fun!
Unfortunately my camera battery was dead, so I didn't get pictures of everything...I would plug it in and then unplug and take a picture or two real fast and then have to plug it in again because it would die. :-)
This was our agenda:
1. Dinner - everyone made their own English Muffin Pizzas
2. Flour/m&m Game - we took a cup of compacted flour and made a flour tower of sorts. Then we put an m&m on top of the flour. Everyone took turns using a knife to scrape away some of the flour from the tower. The person who made the tower fall had to eat the m&m...without using their hands! (WISH we would have gotten pictures).
3. Wall Art - Wil came home SO excited about this idea! You take a willing child, stand them on a chair next to the wall and put tons of masking tape on them...like so.

Then you remove the chair...if you did it right, they should be stuck to the wall! The girls thought this was SO funny!

4. Hide & Go Seek, in the dark!
5. Homemade ice cream.

6. Movie/bed time...I think we overestimated two things - the sleepiness of the girls and the power of a movie to make them sleep! They watched TWO entire movies and didn't fall asleep! Wil actually had to get up once or twice to tell them they needed to quiet down...WHEN did we turn into our parents? I remember the days of my grandma coming out during a sleepover at my house to tell us to be quieter!

Chicken Soup for MY Soul
Do you remember those Chicken Soup for the Soul books? You know, the ones where the whole point was to make you cry...because the person's dog Penny died and the next day they found a penny and just knew it was sent as a message from their beloved deceased pet?
So, I actually kind of liked those...but I've discovered a much better form of Chicken Soup for MY Soul. It consists of doing something completely silly and totally fun. Seriously, an hour of this makes you feel light. :-)
I think that's why I've been enjoying working with the Young Women at church so much! Once a week, I get to do something completely silly and not about me at all!
I had a BLAST tonight...seriously, SO much fun! They took a HUGE 30 or 40 foot by 10ish foot tarp, put it on a small hill, covered it with dish soap and water and made the COOLEST water slide ever...SERIOUSLY, the coolest. water. slide. EVER!!!
I'm still giggling about it...that's all!

Experiment
We came home last night to a noticeable lack of electricity. We're not sure exactly what happened but about three streets lost electricity for at least six hours. We bought some dry ice from the fridge and freezer so we wouldn't lose any groceries and then went to sleep at my grandma's house...it's HOT in Phoenix when there's no air conditioning!
Wil had all sorts of great uses for the dry ice after the electricity came back on.
First there was this...

Followed by this...

Yes, that's a bottle filled with dry ice and water, securely sealed and thrown into the middle of our backyard. Have you ever tried this experiment? It eventually explodes.
Ours landed here....on the porch...in Elvis's summer pool.

And looked like this, the entire bottom was blown off.

I'm amazed none of our neighbors called the cops; it was LOUD! Wil's next idea was to try a cinder block, but I vetoed that one. I can be such a party pooper sometimes!!!
P.S. We have leftover dry ice, and a cinder block, if you would like Wil to try this experiment at your house, just let us know...I'm sure he would be happy to oblige; you know, for the sake of science!

Downfall
It was with great pleasure that we watched the downfall of freeway speed cameras in Arizona Thursday night at midnight!

I came home Thursday asking Wil if he had heard the good news. It only took him three guesses to get it - for the record, he guessed correctly right after I told him it would impact our entire future! :-)
I had a party in my car on the way to work Friday...the kind of party where you defiantly speed up to more than 10 mph over the speed limit as you pass the camera knowing that it can no longer take your picture!!! You should have been there, it was great fun!
Also, for the record, my uncle and I are the only two members of my driving family who did not receive a ticket from the speed cameras. It should be noted that we are probably the two fastest drivers...and everyone but us got those lovely speeding tickets in the mail...or in Wil's cased hand delivered to the front door.

Bunny Ears
Remember the old school antennas people used to use on their TVs? The ones you would put tin foil on or hold a certain way to get better reception? This is the modern day version...and how we watch TV at our house (especially if it's windy outside!).
You see...we don't have cable. This is for a few reasons: we wouldn't have enough time to really watch it, if we had it we would waste time watching it, between Netflix and Hulu you can watch just about anything you want on your own time minus the commercials and mainly because I'm too cheap to pay for it.
So, we have a converter box and a lovely antenna. Sometimes the reception is not amazing, and unlike when we had analog television, the signal doesn't just go fuzzy. With the fancy shmancy digital signal it actually completely breaks up, freezes and stops playing. We've found that sometimes moving your body around a bit makes the signal come back.
Tonight we were trying to watch Friends (our favorite nightly rerun) and the signal kept breaking up. We found ourselves laying like this trying to get it to come back. :-)
