So, when we arrived at work Monday morning and discovered our beautiful banner had been stolen, we did what any creative advertising agency would do...we made another banner to hang on the building (where it couldn't get stolen) and then made 50 small signs to place in the front lawn with the purpose of being stolen.
On the bottom, in small print, the signs read, "Go right ahead. Feel free to steal this sign. We'll look the other way. We promise. Just make sure you smear on the face paint, make some of that dip you always bring to parties, and throw your jersey on for the big game February 1st. Enjoy, from your friends at eblane.com."
Our signs were a hit - they made the news and everything (which, if we're honest was the point!). We had to make 50 more because the first ones disappeared so fast. I stole one, and even my Grandma took a trip to E.B. Lane to steal two of the signs - which she then gave to her favorite grandson Andy.
Would you believe E.B. Lane even got an e-mail from a woman thanking us?! Apparently her daughters are high school kids that don't ever make trouble and they had a blast legally stealing our signs!
